If you told me there was a little slice of heaven high up in the treetops where you could stay in Ubud, I probably would have called you a liar while shaking my head side to side in an exaggerated “NOOOPPPEEE” kind of motion, all the while crossing my arms in front of me just to really show how serious I was about not believing you. Because I can kind of be a stubborn jerk like that. Welcome friends to said slice of heaven, the incredible Bisma Eight Hotel in Ubud.
Travelling by car, Ubud is roughly a two hour drive from Seminyak depending on how lucky or unlucky you are with traffic. We actually travelled here after our time over on the Gili Islands (if you’ve ever travelled by boat to the Gili Islands you will understand the pain that we went through) so we were exhausted, frustrated, hungry and generally had little to no travelling spirit left in us as the neared the end of our trip.
The moment we walked into this incredible hotel, we got some sparkle back. Everything was impressive; the pink drink on arrival, our suite with our own private Japanese wooden bath, to the mini beef sliders we ordered from room service as soon as the porter laid down our luggage. The infinity pool leading into the tree tops was beyond beautiful and possibly the most gorgeous pool I have ever seen (Be gone grumpy tired traveller…. you have an infinity pool to cheer you up! And there’s wine!! ).
We spent our entire visit under the pool cabanas as we worked through the cocktail list. I’ve always thought that being by the beach was my preferred place to stay on holidays, but the rainforest around Bisma Eight has suitably convinced me otherwise! If you are thinking of visiting Ubud at all you really can’t miss this wonderful hotel…. it would be such an injustice if you didn’t get to have a swim in that pool !!!
