We had a rainy and chilly weekend just gone and the weather made it all that much difficult to get out of bed and get going. Tim and I did however make the effort to get out of the house despite the weather and spent our entire Saturday sampling wine and eating all kinds of delicious food from food trucks during the Regional Flavours festival that was on in our city over the weekend. The short version is that there are several stands of local producers selling their wine, cheese, oils, meat etc etc etc and it is almost as close to heaven on earth as I can imagine. You can sample everything, wash it down with some wine, and sit back and think about the calories later. But Sunday….. Sunday was for breakfast in bed.
I once read a quote “Saturdays and for adventures…. Sundays are for cuddles”. Whilst not cuddling exactly, I spent my Sunday taking it easy and doing all the lovely things that I normally wouldn’t. I have a love/hate relationship with laying in bed. It’s SOOOO amazing to lay there and not have to get up (I swear I spend 5 working days each week cursing the fact I have to get up) but when I have the chance to lay and not move I feel like that’s exactly what I shouldn’t be doing.
You can probably tell we don’t have kids yeah?? It’s blatantly obvious at times I know. While I do hope all my mumma friends would have the same privilege every weekend to have a morning to themselves uninterrupted, I just try to remind myself that this scenario (hopefully) won’t be forever so I have to enjoy my child-free mornings in bed as much as can! I have to admit though when our niece sleeps over my favourite part is when she jumps in our bed early in the morning to hang out whilst whispering stories in my ear. She’s so considerate that she uses a soft voice as to not wake her Uncle!! This lasts approximately 15 minutes before we are summoned to start building pillow forts across the bed (WHY do I insist on so many decorative pillows) but you have to take the good with the bad.
How did you spend your weekend? If you didn’t get to lay in I at least hope you had sunshine and adventures to make up for it.
