Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet : Petit Trianon

If I were a Queen I would live here, just as it is, and enjoy my own little hamlet away from a giant palace. Marie Antoinette knew exactly what she was doing. The Petit Trianon sits in the back of the Palace of Versailles and is a little secluded pocket of loveliness where the Queen once lived. Speaking of little, she must have been the tiniest little humanโ€ฆ did you notice the size of that floral bed?

I literally got lost whilst wandering around the grounds. There are so many little gardens and dirt paths to other little gardens, it took all my energy and concentration to find my way out again. It was so quite on the grounds, you easily feel like you’re the only one there. After walking what felt like a bagillion kilometres, all I wanted to do was to sit quietly on that flower covered stone staircase and eat cake.

The Petit Trianon looks like a hobbit house from the Shire, haha. I was so looking forward to seeing the gardens at Versailles but for some reason they were closed when we were there D:

This place is just so unbelievably charming, isn't it? I visited when I was last in Paris (at Christmas) and thought it was the most beautiful place. Like you, I much preferred it to the Palace even! ๐Ÿ™‚ x

Closed?!?! Is that even possible?? How unlucky is that. I completely regret not hiring a golf buggy to drive around the gardens in. My feet were shot after walking around the entire grounds. It's too big!

It would have been gorgeous in the winter! I saw it during autumn so the gardens were filled with leaves. Literally.. just leaves everywhere.

It's definitely worth the visit… but I would highly recommend getting one of the golf carts to drive around the grounds. I walked and it hurt! There is so much of it to see that the golf carts are well worth the money ๐Ÿ™‚

I seriously go here everytime I'm in Paris, I've been way too many times but it's such a serene retreat, I can't get enough!

Ohhh you do?? It's so massive there is so much to see. A day here certainly isn't enough time! I wish I was close enough to go all the time, I'd love to see it in the winter.

Looks like a fake movie set…. I can't believe the place was real!
